The Major and the spy. He was responsible for fighting for freedom. She was suspected of putting it at risk. Captain Wilde, forced to take her into his tent to strip her and search her, had no idea that, as he looked down into the pleading eyes of this dark eyed, golden haired, beautiful girl, she was about to steal his heart.

Finally, she came upon the ladder that would ascend to the outside and set the lantern down inside the cubby hole dug deep into the side so no one outside would be able to see its light. Taking a deep breath, she climbed the rungs six feet upward and pushed back the small wooden door that led outside into the snow.
A layer of leaves and fresh snow covered the outside. Silently, she prayed that she would be able to find the right tree when she came back. Mike, one of the trusted staff, was to have a horse waiting for her by the edge of the woods. Shivering with cold, even through the heavy woolen jacket, she lowered the small door and studied the landscape around her.
She had been here many times as a child, but the tree had grown much higher since then; the ground now was bleak and everything was white. The tree, however, had been named the praying tree because two of the branches looked like arms raised in prayer. It should be easy to spot, coming back. Macie took a deep breath. It looked as if it would begin snowing again at any moment. She hoped it would not white things out before she returned. Pippa Greathouse. Redrabbitt — April 20, The plot is full of mystery and suspense, life and death moments, hidden passages, secret meetings, messages, and plenty of risks.
When Macie is sent on to Valley Forge to pass a letter on to General Washington, her very life is in jeopardy, between just suffering a gunshot, running a fever, she is accused of being a spy.
Captain Jake Wilde must consider her combative until he learns the truth after arriving in Valley Forge and meeting with General Washington. The story depicts some of the harsh reality of the men and women living at Valley Forge during that bitterly cold winter. Limited supplies, food, soap, and protective clothing, are just part of what they endured. It is also a love story between the now Major Wilde and Macie Welles.
As they return to the Welles land, the will have the protection of the Oneida Indians and the Army with the transporting of supplies to the troops. Jake will have his hands full with the impetuous Macie who has a hard time following directions. The story has many life and death intense moments as the British are determined to eliminate Mina and Macie.
There are several spanking scenes, and the sex scenes are not detailed, but more implied. Tiffany — April 21, Overall it was a okay read; however, I rather felt like the story could have ended at several point before it actually did. Without giving away spoilers, I would say that it felt like there were about 3 separate plot lines, the main one being the romance of course, and for the first half all three felt fairly well integrated.
But about halfway through it begin to feel like Ms. Greathouse was focusing on finishing one plot line before then shifting her focus to another plot line, etc. But having said that the romance portions were quite sweet and worth reading. I very much enjoyed this book set in between the Continentals and British armies.
A book filled with grit, rawness, intrigue, danger and deception. This book deals with the realities of war, good and bad. How far would you go to fight for your beliefs and values. Macie is shot and injured trying to deliver a letter for her aunt who is a double spy. She is saved by Jake and they eventually marry.
This story is a beautiful love story with well developed characters. There is no sex scenes but a few spankings. Read and enjoy. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.
Jaycee — April 22, Very engaging, action packed adventure that kept my interest throughout the story. There was plenty of intrigue, drama, mystery and enough romance to keep my interest. As with previous stories by this author, the male lead tends to carry the woman around way more than necessary!!
I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. Download it once and read it on your Kindle device, PC, phones or tablets. Use features like bookmarks, note taking and highlighting while reading Cinderellas Lawman. She fills her days of dealing with his loss by working in the dormitory, which has been turned into a hospital. No longer the quiet, shy, stuttering girl she was when she arrived, Miri is now a competent young woman who is determined to ease suffering in any way she can.
But she is certainly unprepared for the challenge of caring for Captain Nate Alley; the recipient of a gunshot wound, now under her care.
